CIBS’ Innovation Committee held its first event of the year on January 26 with an informative evening at Material ConneXion’s library of innovative materials and processes in Manhattan. More than 55 CIBS members and non-members toured the library learning about packaging made from non-traditional materials and cutting edge manufacturing such as salmon skin “leather” and protective packaging that grows itself using mushroom spores. And, of course, it was a great opportunity for networking with peers and new friends. Committee chairperson Michael Robinson and co-chairperson Victoria Fogarty are intent on providing access to innovation through connection to cutting edge and educational resources and experiences like this, and have plans for several more events throughout the year. Stay tuned at www.cibsonline.com.
